Accessibility Statement

Ratowsky Group at Compass wants every person to be able to find a home here, whatever they use to browse the web. This statement covers https://ratowskyrealestate.com.

Conformance status

We measure this site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard U.S. courts and the Department of Justice have generally looked to. Our assessment is that the site is substantially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA: it meets the standard across the pages and components we have tested, with the specific exceptions listed below.

We say “substantially” deliberately. Full conformance is a claim about every element of every page at every moment, on a site that publishes new content daily. We would rather tell you exactly where we stand and fix what you find than make a guarantee no one can keep.

How we test

• Automated scanning with axe-core against WCAG 2.0, 2.1, and 2.2 A and AA rules, across a representative set of page templates.
• Keyboard-only navigation of every interactive component and form.
• Layout reflow down to a 320-pixel viewport, and text scaling to 200%.
• Color contrast measured against the 4.5:1 body text and 3:1 large text ratios.
• Manual review of headings, landmarks, image alternatives, form labels, and error messaging.

What we have built in

• A skip-to-content link as the first item on every page.
• Semantic headings and landmarks, so a screen reader can navigate by structure.
• A visible focus outline on every interactive element.
• Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images.
• Form fields with real labels, required fields marked in text, errors described in words next to the field, and submit results announced to assistive technology.
• Body text contrast of at least 4.5:1 against its background.
• Layouts that reflow to a phone-width screen without horizontal scrolling.
• Respect for your operating system’s reduced-motion setting.
• An accessibility options panel, reachable from the button at the bottom-left of every page, with controls for text size, line and letter spacing, high contrast, underlined links, a plain reading font, paused animation, a stronger focus outline, and a larger cursor.

One honest note about that panel: it is a convenience, not a conformance strategy. A widget cannot make an inaccessible site accessible, and vendors who market overlays as if it can have been sued for saying so. The accessibility work on this site is in the markup. The panel just lets you tune what is already there.

Known limitations

We know about these and are working on them:

• Embedded video and social posts. YouTube and Instagram embeds render their own player controls, and some of those controls fall short of WCAG inside the frame. We cannot change another company’s player. Where a video carries information you need, ask us and we will send you a transcript.
• Captions. Not every video on the site has captions yet. We are adding them, and any video with spoken content will have captions or a transcript available on request in the meantime.
• MLS listing data. Property descriptions and photographs come from the MLS, written and uploaded by other brokerages. We cannot edit their alternative text or their prose, though we can describe any listing to you directly.
• Interactive maps. Map interfaces are difficult to make fully keyboard-navigable. Every place shown on a map is also listed in text on the same page.

Tell us the page and what happened, and we will get back to you within 2 business days and fix confirmed issues within 30 days where we can, sooner when it is blocking you.

We will get you the information another way

You should never lose out on a house because a web page did not cooperate. If anything here is hard to use, call and a person will walk you through it: property details, neighborhood information, market data, or a full home search read to you over the phone. We can also provide documents in large print, as plain text, or by audio, and we will meet in person anywhere in Huntington Beach and the surrounding coast.
